The Professional Side of Me
My name is Angela Battaglia Dean. I've taught at Collins Hill for 10 years. I have also coached soccer here for the past 10 years. I've taught 9th grade for 9 years and 10th grade for 10 years. I graduated from the University of Georgia (go Dawgs!) in 2002 with a B.S.Ed in Language and Literacy Education. I taught for three years and then returned for a second degree at UGA and graduated with my M. Ed. in Language and Literacy Education in 2007. I was fortunate enough to be nominated for Teacher of the Year in 2011 and was a top three finalist. I am a member of the National Writing Project and the Red Clay Writing Project of UGA. Through it, I continue to develop professionally by attending and presenting at conferences. I also write about literacy practices in my classroom. For the past three years, students and I have developed an Open Mic Poetry reading that benefits a charity. Our two past readings benefited earthquake victims in Haiti and a fantastic organization called Darius Goes West located in Athens, GA. Check out Darius Goes West here.
